Quilt of Valor Recipient: Brian Young
On Saturday, Sept 12, I joined local veterans at Patriots in the Park, held at Mt. Pisgah State Park in Troy. Rep. Tina Pickett and I are pictured here with Quilt of Valor recipient Brian Young, an Air Force veteran who proudly served in AI Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates.
Each quilt is handmade by volunteers and given as a way to recognize and honor the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans and service members. The Quilt of Valor’s mission is to honor service members and veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and other areas of conflict around the world.
To all of our veterans: Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your dedication to our great nation. I look forward to showing you my appreciation at my upcoming Veteran’s Appreciation Breakfast.

WeCare at the Green Home Open House and Ribbon Cutting
WeCare is celebrating an exciting new chapter at the Green Home and the Laurels! I was happy to join families, friends, and community members last Wednesday for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
I enjoyed meeting with WeCare Co-Founders Ari Grinspan and Gedaliah Wielgus and hearing about their vision for healthcare and the culture they are building within their WeCare Centers. Both have a genuine heart and passion for the work they are doing.
They got their start in healthcare at a young age and are looking forward to working with our local schools to provide training and career opportunities for students while creating jobs right here in our communities.
I appreciate WeCare’s continued commitment to our community and its dedication to serving seniors and families throughout Wellsboro and Tioga County.
Congratulations to the entire WeCare team on this exciting milestone!

The new location is twice the size of the previous location, offering improved customer flow and room for expansion of service counters. This space will also offer more parking and will provide a larger skills testing area that will allow for onsite motorcycle skills testing, which PennDOT plans to offer this fall. You can read more about the new location here.

Funding Coming to Strengthen Tioga & Bradford County Communities
More than $1.7 million in local funding is coming to Tioga and Bradford counties through Local Share Account (LSA) grants!
Last week, I was happy to announce that these grants had been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support important projects focused on water and wastewater infrastructure, road maintenance, public safety and emergency preparedness.
These investments will help our communities address needs, from reliable water and wastewater systems and safer roads to dependable municipal equipment and strong emergency services.
These are the services residents count on every day, and this funding will help our communities make necessary improvements while being better prepared when emergencies arise.
I’m proud to support investments that strengthen our communities and improve the quality of life for residents across Tioga and Bradford counties.
You can read the complete press release here.
