Yaw, Owlett: Over $700,000 Awarded for Wellsboro Bridge Replacement
August 19, 2026
HARRISBURG –State Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) and State Rep. Clint Owlett (R-68) today announced $700,762 in state funding has been awarded in Tioga County though the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF).
Funding will be used by the county to replace the deteriorating Queen Street Bridge over Kelsey Creek in Wellsboro. The existing bridge has reached a condition where replacement is necessary to address structural deficiencies and ensure its continued safety and reliability.
“The Queen Street Bridget serves as an important connection for residents, businesses and visitors in the Wellsboro area,” Yaw said. “Funding for this project will allow Tioga County to move forward with replacing the aging infrastructure and maintaining a safe, dependable transportation network for the community.”
“Ensuring the safety and reliability of our transportation infrastructure is vital to maintaining a strong community and thriving economy,” Owlett said. “I’m happy to see the state investing in this bridge replacement project in our district.”
The MTF offers funding to improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians, as well as investments in ports, rail freight and aviation projects. PennDOT selected 50 plans totaling $54 million during this latest application round. Applications for the next round of funding for grants under the MTF will be accepted starting on September 14, 2026.
