Celebrating Service and Community in Blossburg
On Saturday, March 7, I had the opportunity to help celebrate the Blossburg Volunteer Fire Department and the Blossburg Firemen’s Ambulance Association at their annual appreciation dinner.
I was honored to present Kevin Lindquist with a citation from the House of Representatives recognizing 50 years of honorable service. Kevin has been a member since 1975 and has served in several roles, including chief, assistant chief and president.
Kevin has been a true leader within the department, and his resiliency and determination reflect the high standards upheld by the Blossburg Fire Department. Fifty years of service takes tremendous grit and perseverance.
Kevin, along with so many of the other volunteers, continue to give back selflessly to the community. Their dedication shows the deep heart and passion they have for the people they serve.
I also want to give a special shout out to the Blossburg community for its continued resilience and support. Communities like this are strengthened by neighbors who show up for one another and stand behind the volunteers who serve them every day.

Troy Junior Sportsman Teams Celebrate State-Level Success
On Saturday, March 7, Lauren and I had the opportunity to join the Troy Junior Sportsman kids to celebrate their outstanding achievements at the 2025 Pennsylvania State Youth Hunter Education Challenge. Last year at Penn State, both the senior and junior teams earned multiple individual and team awards, showcasing their dedication and skill. Aiden Olinger and Dutch Abma secured first place in their division, while the Troy Senior Little Hammers Team proudly captured the state title in the Senior Team division.
It is an honor to recognize all the members and coaches of the Troy Senior Little Hammers Team, as well as everyone who supported them throughout their training. Their commitment, perseverance, and teamwork have made them distinguished athletes who have earned the admiration of their coaches, peers, families, and the entire community.

Students from New Covenant Academy Visit Harrisburg
The fourth grade class from New Covenant Academy had a great time visiting the historic Pennsylvania State Capitol. It’s always exciting to see students explore this incredible building and learn more about history and traditions of our state government. I personally believe the Capitol is the most building in Pennsylvania. If you’ve never had the chance to visit, I highly encourage you to take the time to tour it. It truly is an amazing place to see in person.
To plan a visit to the Capitol, please contact my legislative assistant in Harrisburg, Jill Beatty, at jbeatty@pahousegop.com or 717-772-5371 to schedule a visit. You can learn a lot about touring the Capitol by clicking here.

New Tax Credit to Help Working Pennsylvanians
With tax season in full swing, Pennsylvanians should know about a new tax credit adopted as part of the current year’s budget.
The Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) Tax Credit, also known as the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit, provides income-qualified working Pennsylvanians with a tax credit equal to 10% of their federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). I was proud to support this measure to return hard-earned money back to taxpayers.
Pennsylvanians qualify for credit based on their income and number of dependents. More information, including a tax credit calculator, is available here.

Working Toward a Responsible State Budget
The House Appropriations Committee’s annual budget hearings came to an end last week. The hearings gave lawmakers the opportunity to ask questions about the governor’s funding proposals for each agency and assess the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations.
During last Monday’s hearing with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, members focused their questions on how PennDOT’s various funding streams are used and their long-term sustainability to maintain and improve the Commonwealth’s roadways. Members also asked for an update on REAL ID, commercial driver license testing and mass transit funding.
Additional sessions with the departments of Revenue and Aging featured conversations about the governor’s tax proposals and efforts to protect citizens against elder abuse, respectively.
Video of the hearings, along with a short summary of each, is available at www.PABudget.com.
