A Well-Deserved Retirement
It was a privilege to recognize Chuck Dillon during his retirement last week with a citation from the House of Representatives. Chuck has had a successful and rewarding career spanning 50 years.
In 2007, Chuck began working with the Senate of Pennsylvania as a field representative. During that time, he served with senators Gene Yaw, Cris Dush and Joe Scarnati. Chuck has devoted his time and energy to the community, serving with Shippen Township since 1989. During this time, he has held the position of chair of the Planning Commission, floodplain administrator and has been a member of the Vacancy Board. Additionally, he has been active on the board of the Pine Creek Headwaters Protection Group. He has also been a member of the Valley Alliance Church for 36 years, where he has served as a Sunday School teacher.
Throughout his career, Mr. Dillon has demonstrated remarkable knowledge, ability and integrity in carrying out his many responsibilities, thus earning the respect and gratitude of all those whose received the benefit of his tireless devotion to duty. Chuck, it has been a pleasure serving with you. Enjoy your retirement, Chuck!

Be Yourself and Do What is Right
Last week, Dottie (from my Troy office) and I had the opportunity to help Doris Walter Reid McClure celebrate her 100th birthday at Towanda Skilled Nursing Unit. It was quite a celebration and Doris’ spunkiness and wit kept us all laughing. I asked Doris what advice she would give to others, and she said, “Be yourself and do what you know is right.” I think those are pretty good words to live by. Happy Birthday, Doris!

The Red Sand Project
Wednesday, July 30, was World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. It was an honor to stand with members of the Children’s House Child Advocacy Center (CHCAC) and the Abuse and Rape Crisis Center in Bradford County, along with other members of our community, at the Bradford County Courthouse in Towanda for the Red Sand Project, a powerful national initiative to help raise awareness about Human Trafficking.
The Red Sand Project was created to increase public awareness and engagement about trafficking and modern slavery. The grains of sand represent those individuals who fall through the cracks of social systems due to trafficking, exploitation and modern slavery.
This serves as a public reminder to remain vigilant and continue to advocate for victims who fall through the cracks. I remain committed to fighting for these victims, and I will continue to work toward legislation that provides sentencing enhancements for human traffickers.

Ensuring Quality Care for our Veterans
In honor of the service and sacrifice of our veterans, I was proud to support a new law that aims to strengthen accountability and transparency in our state veterans’ homes.
Act 20 of 2025 expands and modernizes the advisory councils that oversee our six state-operated veterans’ homes with the goal of ensuring the best possible care for the men and women who have served our Commonwealth and our country.
The state’s veterans’ homes are strategically located to accommodate veterans from every region and are operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. Click here to learn more about them.

Game Commission OKs Additional Sundays for Hunting
The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners met this week and approved 10 additional Sundays for hunting for the 2025-26 season. The additions were made in response to a new state law that lifted the centuries-old ban on Sunday hunting in the Commonwealth.
Every Sunday from Sept. 14 through Dec. 7 will now be open for hunting. The dates reflect all Sundays that fall within established hunting seasons, with the exception of migratory game bird seasons, which are set through federal frameworks.
To read more about the Sunday hunting announcement, click here. Or visit the Pennsylvania Game Commission online at www.pgc.pa.gov.
